Ok.. so we all start getting to that age where the years of tanning beds and layers and layers of makeup piled on over the years have started to take a toll on our delicate skin. A while back I started looking at moisturizers and anti-aging serums to help repair some of the damage to my skin and quickly found out that it was going to cost a pretty penny.
I dove in head first and decided that I wanted to get an all-natural product with ingredients that I could pronounce and with proven beauty benefits. So I went with a facial serum containing 5 essential oils. I loved reading all the benefits and how multi-purpose they are.
After about 6 months of buying this serum, I finally realized that I could make this product myself, and for much cheaper then I was paying! I bought the ingredients right from Amazon (which I’ll link below) and a Young Living rep who offered lots of education and advice on how to use these oils for my health and household. I also ordered the glass bottle and dropper to hold my DIY serum on Amazon as well. The best part about making your own facial serum is that you know exactly whats in it. No need to stress over ingredients where you’re shrugging your shoulders trying to figure out why they’re there and what they do!
Below are the essential oils I chose to use and their benefits:
Frankincense Essential Oil: This oil can be a little pricey, but It’s TOTALLY worth the investment. There are lots of benefits to this oil, particularly for the skin. Frankincense oil is anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial. This oil is also used to support strong immunity and healthy cell regeneration.
Lavender Essential Oil: The lavender oil is probably one of the most versatile of all the oils. There are millions of ways to use lavender essential oil, but for the skin, it can help fight acne and scarring, and the smell is calming and improves concentration. It can also be used for bruises, burns, dermatitis, and eczema.
Jojoba oil: I love this oil as it is a great for moisturizing your skin. It absorbs well without clogging your pores. This makes it a great carrier oil for your face. It helps heal wounds and clears acne by preventing the growth of bacteria. It also contains vitamin E, which is a great antioxidant and helps protects against free radicals that damage our skin. It also has anti-fungal and anti-inflammatory properties!
Argan oil: This is a great lightweight oil that will leave your skin feeling hydrated without feeling greasy. It diminishes wrinkles by increasing the elasticity of your skin. Agran oil is high in linoleum acid which is great for reducing inflammation caused by acne. It’s also rich in ursolic acid which has powerful collagen stimulating properties and can aid in anti-aging and heal skin damage.
