Café Appliances Review (Are They Worth The Splurge?)

Recently, for our kitchen renovation, we opted for GE café appliances in matte white. It was certainly a big splurge! But was it worth it?! If you’ve come looking for a café appliances review – you’ve come to the right place!

Here I’ll be sharing a little about our project and a lot about the ge cafe line.

Our goal with our renovation was to tie our existing wooden cabinets in with our new white cabinets.

To do that, we needed to find a way to blend both styles. So, we opted to upgrade our kitchen with white quartz countertops and splurge on white luxury appliances to help tie everything together beautifully. We’re so glad we went for it!

Now, Let’s get to that café appliance review! But first, I’ll answer some common questions you might have in regards to these ge products.

Are Café Appliances Worth It?

When outfitting your kitchen with the latest appliances, it can be tempting to splurge on the trendiest items on the market.

However, before you start shelling out for fancy gadgets, one must consider whether they’re worth the investment. Take, for example, Café appliances espresso machines and wine refrigerators.

While these items may add a touch of luxury to your kitchen, they also come with a hefty price tag, even at different price points.

And while these are fantastic appliances, they aren’t going to help add much value to the overall design of your kitchen.

Instead, focus on investing in quality large appliances that stand the test of time – and add to the value of your home, like a professional-grade ge cafe range or a high-end café fridge.

What are the pros and cons of the ge café line:

  • If you love high-end kitchens with a bit of a retro vibe, and don’t mind spending the dough… These appliances might be for you! You’ll also be able to experiment with different appliance features like wi-fi connectivity and having a hot water dispenser. Plus, being able to entertain your guests in your chic-looking kitchen is a total bonus.
  • On the downside, Café appliances can be expensive. You’ll need to invest a good sum on these new appliances that might be hard to swallow at first.

So, are Café appliances worth it? It depends on your circumstances. We’re glad we opted for the splurge because they added the high end upgrade we were look without having to gut our kitchen and start from scratch.

So while saved by keeping our existing layout and cabinets, we splurged on luxury appliances. So for our design, they were totally worth it!

Is Café a Reliable Appliance Brand?

GE Café offers a vast collection of high-quality appliances designed to meet your usability and aesthetic preferences.

Their product line includes everything from a double oven and cooktops to refrigerators and dishwashers. GE Café appliances are known for their innovative features, durability, and stylish designs.

For instance, their French Door refrigerator is one of the most popular models, thanks to its sleek design and spacious interior. And bonus… it’s customizable handles!

GE Café’s Professional gas cooktop is perfect for those modern home cooks, as it offers an impressive array of features, including six sealed burners and a griddle (which we love to cook pancakes on!)

Besides their great products, Café also offers excellent customer service, with a team of knowledgeable and friendly representatives who are always ready to help.

When you need help selecting the right appliance for your home, GE Café will be there for you every step. We opted not to go with the extended warranty because the manufacturers warranty was more then we needed.

Be sure to inspect your appliance throughly when it’s been delivered. Cosmetic damages are only covered in your warranty 30 days after delivery. They will send out a certified technician to take care of the problem.

Are Café Appliances Better Than GE’s Profile Product line?

There’s no question that GE appliances are top-of-the-line. But when it comes to their Café line versus their Profile product line, which is better? It depends on your kitchen aesthetic and usability goals.

Here’s a closer look at some of the key differences between the two:

Designs:

The Café line has a more modern, sleek design that would fit well in a contemporary kitchen. The Profile range, however, has a slightly more traditional look.

Features:

Café appliances come with lots of unique features, like built-in WiFi and intelligent controls. The Profile products don’t have as many bells and whistles, but they’re still loaded with great features like self-cleaning ovens and LED lighting.

Performance:

In terms of performance, both lines deliver exceptional results. However, the Café appliances may have a slight edge regarding energy efficiency and cooking power.

Café appliances are known for their quality, style, and performance. In comparison, the Profile product range from this other brand is not as well known. However, that doesn’t mean that they aren’t good appliances. It depends on your overall esthetic goal.

Price:

When it comes to price, the two lines are fairly evenly matched. However, the Café appliances are slightly more expensive than the Profile products.

So, which is better? It boils down to personal preference. If you want top-of-the-line performance and cutting-edge features, go with the Café line. If you prefer a traditional design and don’t mind sacrificing some features for a lower price tag, go with the Profile products.

Is Café A Luxury Appliance Brand?

Café is a luxury appliance brand known for its high-end, professional-grade kitchen appliances.

These products are designed for those who want the best of the best in cooking and entertaining. From cooktops and ovens to dishwashers and refrigerators, Café appliances are built to last with stellar performance.

Not to mention their smudge-proof material, making them easy to clean and fingerprint resistant. They always look like they are brand new!

Who Is The Manufacturer Of Café Appliances?

GE Appliances are the manufacturer of the Café kitchen appliance brand. The company offers a wide range of appliances, including refrigerators, ovens, dishwashers, and range hoods.

All of the appliances in the Café line are designed with the modern kitchen in mind. The products are sleek and stylish, with a focus on function. GE Appliances are a leading appliance manufacturer, and the Café brand is just one of many appliance lines.

Do Café Appliances Scratch Easily?

Wondering if those expensive stainless steel appliances are worth it? Afraid you’ll have to replace them after a few years due to scratches?

Don’t fret – Café appliances are built to last. The Café matte collection doesn’t leave water marks, finger prints, or scratch easily. They can actually withstand heavy use. In fact, they’ll probably outlast any other type of appliance you could choose.

Is GE Monogram Better Than Café?

For many homeowners, the deciding factor for appliances is the price factor. GE Monogram appliances typically come with a higher price tag than Café appliances.

However, this doesn’t necessarily mean that Monogram is the better brand. They’re pretty comparable when it comes to features, but definitely not when it comes to price. Monogram costs more.

What Is The Most Popular Color For Kitchen Appliances?

Kitchen appliances come in all sorts of colors these days. You can find fridges in brightly-colored hues like pink and red or choose a more subdued look with black or stainless steel. But when it comes to what’s popular, there are two clear frontrunners: white and black.

White appliances have been trending for a few years now and show no signs of slowing down. They give the kitchen a clean and fresh look, perfect for those who want an intimidating space to cook in.

Plus, they go well with just about any other color you might want to use in your kitchen, from soft pastels to bold primaries.

The great things about cafe is that they have a few color options, so if you’re looking for something other than stainless, these appliances might be a great choice for you. I was tempted to go with their matte black finish. Even though it didn’t go with our design plan. They’re just so beautiful!

So what’s the most popular color for kitchen appliances in 2022? If the past few years are any indication, it’s sure to be white.

Are White Appliances Making A Comeback?

White appliances are making a comeback in 2022! After years of being overshadowed by stainless steel, white appliances are finally getting the attention they deserve.

While some may say that white is boring or even outdated, I believe there is a certain elegance to a white appliance. In a world where everything is constantly changing, it can be nice to have something classic and timeless. White appliances also have the advantage of being able to match any decor style.

Sleek, modern, and effortlessly captivating- that’s what white appliances are all about. And in 2022, they’re making a comeback in a big way.

After years of metallic shades dominating the kitchens, white appliances are suddenly becoming the must-have item for anyone who wants to give their cooking space an update.

Whether it’s a new counter depth refrigerator or a dishwasher, white appliances add a touch of class and sophistication to any kitchen. And best of all, they go with just about everything. So if you want a change in your kitchen, don’t wait any longer. Go ahead and give those white appliances a try.

Is Stainless Steel Going Out Of Style?

From the refrigerator to the dishwasher, the classic stainless steel material has long been a popular choice for homeowners.

But is stainless steel going out of style? Some experts believe that it may be on the way out, as more and more people opt for appliances in other materials.

However, stainless steel still has fans, I don’t think it will ever be completely gone.

Are White Kitchens On The Way Out?

Regarding kitchen design, white has long been a popular choice within the farmhouse style community. And Whether or not farmhouse style is completely out, which I know some say (I disagree), white kitchens are not on their way out. The contrary actually. White kitchens (appliances included), offer a classic look that is timeless and versatile.

However, in recent years there has been a shift towards warmer, more inviting kitchen designs. Think warm taupes and off-whites. White accents, like in the cafe line, offer a beautiful contrast to the warmer color pallets.

What Are The Pros Of Splurging On Café Appliances?

For me, I knew cafe appliances gave the perfect farmhouse style I wanted for my kitchen, but figuring out if they were worth the investment was tough. These are the pros which ultimately helped me decide to go with these ge cafe appliances.

Their longevity

With proper care, Café appliances can last for years and years. This is especially true of the café refrigerators, which are built to withstand the rigors of constant use. Cafe offers a limited 1 year warranty and a limited 5 year warranty.

And if you ever need a replacement part, each particular model has a unique number inside the appliance, making reordering parts especially easy.

The Latest in Tech

Café appliances are always at the forefront of technology. The ge cafe refrigerator comes equipped with features like an electronic temperature-controlled drawer for fresh foods, an interior or exterior ice dispenser, and a hands-free Autofill water dispenser.

My favorite appliance hands down has to be the dishwasher. Not only does it deep clean your cups and silverware with it’s bottle-jet technology, but it happens to be the quietest dishwasher I’ve ever owned!

All The Features You Want!

When it comes to features, Café appliances have everything you could want. From self-cleaning ovens to LED lighting, their machines are designed with the modern consumer in mind.

The ge refrigerators have easy access to its builtin control panel for simple setting changes. Honestly, I love this feature because I can turn the door alarm off while I’m cleaning out my fridge.

Energy efficient technology

These sleek appliances are also designed to be energy-efficient. It has earned an energy star rating. Meaning it has the same power as a standard refrigerator, but uses less energy. So, you’ll save money on your energy bills in the long run.

Adds value to your home

Café kitchen appliances are a wise investment for any homeowner. Not only will they last for years, but they’ll also add value to your home because of the luxury look. Kitchens add the most value to your home. Upgrading to high-end appliances will give you an edge when selling.

They’re customizable!

Café appliances are known for their unique designs and customizable hardware. Not only can you choose between stainless, matte black, and matte white finishes, you can also choose the finishes on your hardware!

That way you can add contrast to your beautiful appliances! We opted for brushed bronze to match our hardware and light fixtures. Cafe fridges offer more customization with their full-depth fridges or, for a smaller size, a counter-depth fridge.

If you’re looking for built-in options, counter-depth is the way to go. We used trim around our ge café refrigerator cabinet and around the counter-depth fridge itself for a custom built-in look.

What Are The cons Of Splurging On Café Appliances?

Ok, It’s only fair to talk about the cons. I really only have two. The price and the wait time for delivery. Some people I know waited over a year for their cafe appliances to be delivered due to being on back order.

Now, you can get them at most appliance stores and home improvement stores (like the home depot). Whether they have them in stock is a different story. You can also buy the store models at places like American Freight for a fraction of the price, although they may come banged up from being on display.

They’ll even ship them to you! Although shipping is quite pricey. They even offer a store warranty if you pay extra. Plus, you’ll still have the manufacturers warranty.

Rounding Up

We are so happy we opted to splurge on our appliances. We are so impressed with the quality of the appliances, and the wide range of features they offered.

Mostly, we love that we were able to incorporate our personal style in our kitchen design. And apparently In the words of GE’s CCO; “We heard consumers loud and clear: They want to infuse their unique style into the kitchen, just like they can everywhere else in the home,” said Rick Hasselbeck, chief commercial officer for GE Appliances.

All in all, we are delighted with our decision to upgrade our appliances to Café. Not only do they look great and add a touch of class to our kitchen, but they are also efficient and user-friendly.

From the fridge to the dishwasher, each appliance has made our lives easier in some way, like how easy they are to wipe clean! The finish doesn’t show finger prints like my last fridge did. So they stay clean much longer!

So whether you’re renovating your existing kitchen or buying a new home, Cafe appliances would make excellent choice.

  1. Yes, Rob I agree completely and wanted to write a similar comment to yours. Also a real cook would never buy all appliances from one manufacturer, nor would a real cook compare Cafe and Monogram and declare them “similar in features” but not in price. Monogram is better than Cafe and that is why it cost more. I bought a Monogram range and unlike her easy bake oven, it isn’t a piece of furniture. We got a mix of appliances including the Sub Zero with the glass door refrigerator, the Gaggenau combo, the GE Advantinum 240v ( the 110v is worthless) speed oven, a Bosch warming drawer and an Asko dishwasher. Sometimes I wish I had gotten the Wolf range (the salesman talked me into the Monogram which I do love) but I would have never considered the Cafe for anything except maybe a basement kitchen which is why I am investigating Cafe appliances in the first place. Even in the basement I doubt I will purchase all Cafe appliances and instead will do the sensible thing and buy each piece based on its merits and our needs in a secondary kitchen. Still her kitchen is very pretty but many designers only pay attention to aesthetics and miss an opportunity to have a truly customized appliance package. Plus even if aesthetics were the only issue, excessive matching is passé whereas stainless steel is not.

  2. I’m unsure if this is the forum for this, but I ordered the GE CAfe French door oven in April 2023. The first one came in May 2023. The doors would not open. I don’t have my cabinets yet, was going to measure the door span. GE made me put power to the appliance from the panel box to prove the thing was not locked. It was not. GE sent a technician out to verify the doors would not open. They wouldn’t open. Oven #2 the doors would not open. The delivery guy took pliers and yanked the doors open. The handles are INSIDE the locked oven, so all you have is the nubs the handles attach to, to pull on to open the unit which is literally not possible as the first GE tech confirmed. Once opened with pliers and the handles attached, the doors would not close properly. So, did the delivery guy hurt the oven? I don’t know. Didn’t seem to. Oven #3 came again the doors were opened with pliers and would not close. However the oven seemed to be exactly the same as the previous oven. It was taped up inside on the faulty door. I complained GE was possibly sending me the same oven. The serial number is on a sticky tab easy enough to change. GE denied this. Another GE rep came out, inspected the oven and declared the doors would not close properly. Oven #4 came yesterday. I met the delivery guy with the handles off oven #3 and had him put the handles on the oven and not use pliers to open the doors. he did. The doors opened and were all taped up again on the one defective door on the inside of the unit and the doors would not close properly. I guess oven #5 will come out next week. Does ANYONE have issues like this? Are you are asking if they are worth the money? An oven over 4K that the doors don’t work? I’d say NO WAY. This has been going on since May. It’s August. My cabinets come next week and I still do not have an oven with doors that work. And yes I did ask for a manager and was refused one. I demanded a manager, was refused. I can’t even get GE on the phone, it rings then puts you on hold for over an hour then disconnects. I have a case number and I have to email them to get responses. The one GE technician was arrogant, no ID did have a GE hat and truck, refused to give me paperwork, provide his name or give me a business card. Said I would get an email concerning his visit. I did not. I’m extremely disappointed in GE. I was trying to buy American but see China/Hairer bought GE Appliances in 2016, it’s unclear if GE is an American company any longer.

    1. Thank you so much for your frank review. After seeing your review and also seeing the negative Consumer Reports reviews for the Cafe French Door fridge, I am going to pass on it and will look at traditional door opening fridges instead. So sorry you are having these problems.

      1. sorry for they typo – I should have said “negative Consumer Reports reviews for Cafe French Door oven”.
