Easy Entryway table styling

Entryway table styling can be super easy and look effortless with a few staples which I’ll share with you here.

I started with a mural as my back drop from Anewwall. This is their shaded mural and is my absolute favorite. I didn’t want anything to steal it’s thunder so I styled my entryway very simply to compliment my wall instead of it being too distracting.

The other pieces I added including my table, mirror, lights, and decor are simple and affordable. I’ve linked each of the sources under each pictures below as well.

Add the perfect entryway table

First,  I added the perfect entryway table. I love this one because its from Walmart. Not only is it a great price, but it’s made from solid wood too! It’s very sturdy AND comes fully assembled! Which these days I felt was worth mentioning.

Hang mirror and lights centered above your table

Next, I hung my mirror over my entryway table. This one is from Target and it’s the perfect size. It’s good quality too and one of the most affordable of its type.

Then I hung my lights centered on either side of the mirror. The gold on the lights matches the gold on the mirror so it coordinates nicely. And the white shades give it a classic look playing off of the white in the mural.

Stack home decor books and add a paper weight to your entryway table

Then I added home decor books to give a little structure to my entryway table. Not only does it add visual interest, but it adds height and dimension to the table styling. Decorating is all about layering to give things visual interest and stacking books is a great way to do that.

Add baskets to your entryway table

Adding baskets in not just a decor feature for entryway styling, but a practical element too. Not only does it add another texture but it adds storage as well.

In my very old home we are lacking in closet space. So in an effort to make us more organized, I put baskets where ever I can. Not only can I store extra blankets but books, shoes, etc.

Layer vases and add florals to your entryway display

Adding different size vases is a great way to adds some varying heights to your entryway display. I love this crock from Studio McGee’s Threshold line at Target.

I’ve also added some simple Spring florals to brighten this spot a bit without it being too distracting. Again, I don’t want anything overshadowing my Anewall shaded mural.

Add a candle to your entryway table

Lastly, adding a candle is the finishing touch to style your entryway. What I love about this candle from the Hearth and Hand line at Target is that it’s super fragrant – Even when it isn’t lit!

Everytime I walk by It smells like Spring time florals and brightens my mood.

I have put together an affordable budget friendly Valentine’s Day gift guide that the whole family would love!

Hey all! Valentine’s day is around the corner and I don’t know about you, but it’s a family day around here. The kids and I generally put on as much red as we can muster up and spend the day cutting out red construction paper hearts to string for a Valentines Day garland.

We finish off the evening with some yummy food in our fanciest dishes, toast to our family with sparkling cider, and eat yummy Valentine’s Day cake! On top of all that we surprise each other with small gifts  – some are homemade and others not so much.

I’ve rounded up some of my family’s favorite Valentine goodies for you all from the one and only Walmart! Some of the items are fun and very affordable and others like my oh so favorite scent – Coco Chanel Mademoiselle are a bit on the pricey side. But this has to be my all-time favorite scent and when I wear it I get so many compliments. On the other hand, Donna Karan cashmere mist comes in a close second and is much more affordable! So whether your shopping for your family or yourself – I think you’ll thoroughly enjoy some of our favorites!

DIY Balloon Garland

DIY | August 29, 2018

I am sharing my easy tutorial on how to make a balloon garland that looks amazing for any party or holiday!

Ok friends… here it is as promised! DIY Balloon Garland! It’s Super Easy with my step by step tutorial and adds the perfect touch to any party or holiday event!

Below, I’ve linked the supplies that are needed to create this DIY project. I also used a dual action hand pump to blow the balloons up. You’ll be blowing up a lot of balloons, so It’ll be nice to have the help of a pump.

Looking for a one stop shop?

Click on the image above to be directed to an Etsy seller who puts the best package together. It includes everything you need including the hand pump all for around $60! Let’s get started on this balloon tutorial!

Balloons and a hand pump.

Start with separating your balloons in two piles…large and small.

Blown up balloons on the floor.

Blow Up Balloons

Blow up the large and small balloons. Next, bag up all the small balloons to attach later to the garland. You should have around 70 large and 70 small balloons to make a garland between 10 and 14 feet.

A clear bag for the balloons.

Attach The Balloons

Insert the neck of the large balloons through the punched hole after pushing through the plastic circle. Use every other hole for a fuller look or every third for a longer DIY balloon garland.

Attaching all the balloons together.

Pictured Here

Here you can see I used every other circle for a full garland look.

Rows of balloons in white, peach, clear and yellow all attached together.

Almost Done

Your garland should look similar to the picture above after attaching all the large balloons. Arrange the colors however you like them. Whether that’s ombre or by spreading the colors out evenly. If you’re not able to assemble the balloon garland at your venue, you can do up until this part at your house and then travel with it and attach it to the wall before adding the smaller balloons. Fold the garland in half by pulling the leftover plastic strand up to the top of the garland, then with another person’s help, carry the garland one on each side to a van with seats folded down. Garland will be large and hard to travel with.

Attaching the balloons to the wall with a hook and string.

Attach To Wall

Next, use command strips by attaching the strip to the wall and then tie a piece of string around the plastic part of the garland and then hook the string around the garland like the image above. Measure your string beforehand because of the size of the balloons the garland will sit far away from the wall. Do the same to the other side. I like to have a tail running down on one side, but you can hang your garland however you like.

Showing a command strip with the balloon.

Attach your small balloons

Next, use your glue tabs to fill in the gaps on your garland and add volume as well. Attach the glue dot to the small balloons and stick to any large balloon on the DIY garland. Once the dot is attached it doesn’t move well, so be sure to place your small balloons where you want them.

Placing the balloon garland on the wall.

Layer The Small Balloons

Try and layer your small balloons on top of one another to add color and dimension to your garland. It’s really hard to mess this part up. You should be working with about two garbage bags full of balloons, so you’ll have plenty to add balance to the garland. And voila!  A knockout decoration is created and this DIY balloon garland is perfect for any function that you want to add that wow factor to!

Fall Wardrobe Staples (for the minimalists closet)

Style | August 24, 2018

I have put together some fall wardrobe essentials that are timeless and interchangeable!

It’s finally that time of year where the mornings and evenings require a little bit more clothing than the rest of the day. Its finally not frowned upon to start shopping for new clothes with fall in mind. Wardrobe staples are simply clothing that are easily interchangeable with each outfit for a complete look. I’ve put together some of my favorite fall staples perfect for the minimalist clothing closet.

Black pants, sweater, and backpack with a pair of black shoes.

Black On Black

Black on black doesn’t mean goth anymore… but instead cool French minimalist. This look, in fact, is my favorite! This black cashmere sweater with ankle pants and a black mule are the perfect staples for your fall minimalist wardrobe!

A floral yellow summer dress with a grey cardigan and a brown leather tote bag.

Summer Meets Fall

Just because summer is nearing an end doesn’t mean that you have to put your pretty summer dresses away until next year. Add a fall cozy sweater and a tall boot and walla.. the perfect, yet colorful way to enter the fall with style. And – every minimalist wardrobe needs a cozy sweater and a tall boot.. so it’s a win-win.

A jean, brown shoes and bag with a grey top.

Casual On The Go

Give me a high waisted cropped pair of blue jeans any day! Seriously… In love with these jeans! Combine it with a tucked in ribbed button down top and a pair of ankle booties to give it the perfect amount of fall and comfort! Plus, you can’t go wrong with a tan leather Madewell bag and booties! Both are fall wardrobe staples for sure!

A blue button down shirt for fall, with blue shoes and a camel bag.

Business Casual

If you’re a working gal but want something stylish yet casual this is the perfect look for you! These cobalt blue loafers are to die for and paired with this blue button down tunic is amazing! Add a pair of gray stretch ankle pants and you’ve yet again added a few key minimalistic staples to your fall wardrobe.

Jeans, a blue blazer, a brown tote bag and suede neutral heels.

Everyone Needs A Blazer

So blazers don’t just have to be for suits anymore. Pair with some great jeans and pumps and you’ll be styling for sure! I just adore this bucket bag from Madewell that brings the right amount of causal to this structured outfit!

A black and white striped dress, with a black clutch that has a gold chain and a black bootie.

Night Out – With An Edge

A striped dress is a must for any wardrobe. It can be paired with some slide on sneakers to be dressed down or a pair of ankle booties for a night out! This bag helps to dress the outfit up with its gold accents and of course, the crossbody can be dressed down with a tee shirt and a pair of jeans… It’s so versatile! If you’ve loved these looks please click the images below to check out their source and to do some shopping. These are not affiliate links, but in fact just to make it easier for you to do what every girl loves to do… SHOP!

Easy DIY Basket Wall (for less than 20 Bucks!)

Style | August 23, 2018

Baskets are a great way of adding style to your home without breaking the bank and here I will show you an easy DIY basket wall!

I’ve been seeing these adorable basket walls everywhere lately and I’ve been dying to give it a try! As you’ll see below, I have a rather large wall that I’ve been looking to “fill up” but artwork can be so expensive! This is a very cost-effective way to use up wall space on a dime!Baskets of various sizes and shapes on the wall.

An empty wall before putting on the baskets.

Wall Space

First things first…find a wall… a large wall. This wall sits above my sitting area and I needed something I could center around the area instead of the wall… If you catch my drift. This lovely basket wall was the perfect solution because I could center the design around the sitting area, but also trail the baskets across the wall to fill up wall space without it looking off-center.

The baskets laid out on the floor before putting on the wall.

The Baskets

So I wanted to get these baskets on the CHEAP! So I shopped at Savers, The Goodwill, and The Salvation Army. I wasn’t so worried about color, shape, or style. I wanted a variety of baskets. Next, Set it all up on the floor until you have your design just right.

Attaching the first 3 baskets onto the white planked wall.

Start one at a time

I started hanging one basket at a time. Give yourself a little wiggle room because you think your design looks great on the floor but doesn’t always translate well to the wall.  You need to work out the flow for the best ambiance.

Placing more baskets in a formation onto the wall.

Layer your design

Continue to layer your baskets until you love your basket design. It can definitely be a trial and error process. Here I realized I was getting too high so I began to shift everything down lower on the wall. I used small picture frame nails because these baskets were very lite and it wouldn’t cause much damage if I shifted them around.

Putting the last of the baskets of various sizes on the wall.

Just about done

One last little art tweak and done!  After hanging the last and smallest basket, I just shifted it down and over a tiny bit and Walla! Done!

Adjusting some of the spacing of the baskets.

Check out the images below to see how the awesome baskets help tie in my exposed beamed ceilings! Fun wall.. for under 20 bucks.. I’d say thats a decor win!

The baskets in the sitting room by the gray chairs.

The sitting room with the basket wall, neutral couches and wood beams on the ceiling.

A light fixture is in front of the baskets in the living room.

Friday Favorites…fall is in the air (10 must haves for the up and coming season!)

Mood Boards – Office edition!

Style | August 14, 2018

I am putting together my office and whenever I am trying to figure out decor style I put together a mood board!   So here are some office mood boards!

Searching Pinterest can be fun when dreaming of inspiration for your latest project, but at the same time leaves you wondering if your project will turn out the same. Pinterest fails are a very real thing these days and I’ll be the first to admit that I’ve experienced failure first hand.Pinks and gold with a white and gold desk and white and gold armchair.

Mood boards are a great way to test out your design without making the plunge first hand. There are so many free programs out there where you can put together your designs and upload your own furniture too! Canva and Olioboard are a few of my favorites.

I’ve created a few mood boards to get the design juices flowing for my own office renovation. Check out my boards below for some inspiration.A dark wood, antique rug, and basket wall in the office mood board.

There’s something old world about farmhouse rustic woods and deep shades of material that helps bring the modern boho vibe together. Contrast is essential in creating this office look which is why I added the white slipcover chair. Also, what’s more boho then a basket wall? I’m super excited to try this new trend.A wooden desk with a guitar in the corner and a bicycle.

Dark moody spaces with leathers, woods, and touches of metal are the perfect palette for a modern farmhouse office. This office space will be shared between my husband and me for a short time so a space with a bit of a masculine twist will kill two birds with one stone.

Pink and gold mood board inspiration.

Whats better than soft whites, velvety pinks,  and gold metals? This romantic style speaks to my heart! A girl can dream, right? Since our office will be shared for a while this direction won’t be the most popular choice, but I have big dreams for this mood board. One day my attic will be transformed into a large studio workspace with this palette in mind.Leather chair, rug and shelves in this office mood board.

Looking for a specific style, but aren’t quite sure how to get it out on paper, yet alone restyle a whole room? Contact me! I’d love to create a mood board and shopping list to give you that perfect look. Check out my prices HERE and contact me with any questions.

Mantel Decor Inspiration

Style | August 9, 2018

I have put together the most beautiful inspiration pictures of mantel decor styling!

A white fireplace mantel with a baby blue ottoman in front of the fireplace. There is a clear glass vase with a branch and green leaves on it.

I don’t know about you, but my mantel is constantly changing. Well, so is the rest of my house. I get bored with a look and love to shake things up. (Check out one of my most recent shakeups here…Modern Farmhouse meets boho with a twist in my master bedroom refresh). My fireplace mantel is no exception from this charade. My house was built in the 1700s (take my home tour here) and has no less then 6 fireplaces. It can be a little much at times considering all the upkeep of a fireplace, but the plus side is that there are lots of fireplaces to decorate and endless creative outlets. Sometimes this task can seem dauntless and styling direction can be tricky…

During the seasons and holidays, you at least have some direction to go in when styling your mantel.. pumpkins, evergreen garland, stockings etc. But in-between seasons there are so many more choices and directions to go in that it can feel overwhelming! Well, I’ve selected some drool-worthy mantel decor inspiration pictures to get you off on the right foot. Their mantels are proportionately balanced, layered to add dimension, and with the most beautiful color combos. These gorgeous mantels are perfectly styled to fit all those in-between seasons.

Scroll on to see some of the most drool-worthy inspiration pictures that will surely inspire you to get creative when styling your mantel in-between seasons. Click the photo to be directed to it’s source.

I love this white and marble fireplace mantel with a stunning ornate mirror.    Absolutely exquisite!

The stunning look of the wood and white mantel together has that homespun charm that I adore!

A wooden and white fireplace with a chalkboard framed and a graphic on it. There is a wicker basket in the fireplace.
